Graduated in Aerospace Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and received a PhD from the Leibniz University of Hannover in boundary layer
and shear flow research.
He started his professional career at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Göttingen more than 30 years ago. After a six years research period he continued his career in several companies in industry working in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering before he entered the aircraft company Airbus in 2003.
He has contributed to the design of various aircraft projects in the areas of aerodynamics, aeroacoustics and flight mechanics ranging from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles up to large passenger and military aircrafts, either in aircraft programs or research projects. He is named inventor of numerous patents and author of many publications.
In 2017 he joined the German Aerospace Center (DLR) again as Program Director Aeronautics and in 2021 he was appointed Divisional Board Member Aeronautics.
