Uwe started his professional career in 1987 at KHD Luftfahrttechnik GmbH as Stress & Lifing engineer after graduating in Aeronautical Engineering from Technical University in Darmstadt.

During his career he has held various positions at Snecma in France and in BMW Rolls-Royce GmbH which became Rolls-Royce Deutschland in 1999. Areas of activities covered Advanced Projects and Research Programmes as well as Technology Acquisition. In 2011 he was appointed Head of Research & Technology for Rolls-Royce Deutschland.

In 2012 he gained a Doctorate of Engineering from Technical University of Dresden for his thesis on Research & Technology Management.

In 2019 he was appointed Honorary Professor at Technical University of Dresden for Research & Technology Management in Aeronautics.

From 2010 till 2011, 2013 till 2014 and 2017 till 2019 he was the chairman of the European cross-sectorial “Industrial Management Group” (IMG4) in addition to his long-lasting chairmanship of the “Engine Industry Management Group” (EIMG), both working in close relationship with ASD.

From 2019 to 2022 he was Co-chairman of the ASD Research & Technology Commission and since 2023 he is Chairman of the ASD Civil Aviation Research Committee.

Since 2012 he is member of the German BDLI R&T Committee (F&T-Ausschuss).

In December 2021 he was appointed Rolls-Royce alternate member of the Clean Aviation Governing board and representative to the Clean Aviation Technical Committee.

Uwe is married to Regina and they have three children. His interests include playing Tennis and maintaining classic cars.
