Dr Catalin Nae

Dr. Catalin NAE graduated Aerospace Eng. Dept. from University Politehnica Bucharest with a Master in Aerodynamics in 1989 and also Faculty of Mathematics from Univ. Bucharest in 1995 with a Master in Fluid Mechanics. He obtained a PhD. in 1997 in CFD from University Politehnica Bucharest and further continued as a post-doc at Univ. of Glasgow in 1999/2000 and as a guest scientist in various research establishments in Europe and US.

Since 1990 he works at INCAS – National Institute for Aerospace Research “Elie Carafoli” in Bucharest Romania as senior scientist, Head of Subsonic Wind Tunnel and Program Manager for several civil and military projects for aviation and space. He is an expert in aircraft design, wind tunnel testing and CFD, including HPC. He is author/co-author of more than 150 papers in various publications and international journals and is a member of Académie de l’Air et de l’Espace in France, member of DAAD in Germany and AIAA Senior Member.

Since 2008 he acted as Director of INCAS, representing this establishments in most prestigious international organizations in aviation and space internationally. He is member of ACARE Plenary (Advisory Council for Aviation Research in EU) and one of the founding members of IFAR – International Forum for Aviation Research. In EU he is also one of the founding members of JTI Clean Sky, acting as Vice-President of Governing Board of Clean Sky 1 – 2011 – 2013. He was nominated President of STAI – Supersonic Tunnel Association International 2017-2019, President of EREA – European Research Establishments in Aeronautics Association 2018-2019 and President of EU Future Sky 2019-2021. Currently he acts as Vice-Chair of ESRE – European Space Research Establishments Association.
