Marcello Amato

With a background in Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Head of the CFD Laboratory and Fluid Physics Unit at CIRA for many years, became responsible of the “Strategic Programming & Business Development Unit” then General Director from march 2020 till march 2022, Director of Research Directorate till April 2024, currently Director of Aeronautics Directorate and of Cross-Research Directorate.

M. Amato was always active in the national and European research arena; currently:

• Italian Representative in ACARE General Assembly
• EREA Board General Assembly member,
• ESRE Board General Assembly member,
• AZEA General Assembly di AZEA member.
• EREA-ARG member (chairing 2006-2010, 2012-2013,2014-2015,2018-2019, 2020-2021),
• Representative in the CTNA Technical Committee and ACARE-Italia

He participated in many EC R&TD funded projects at National and European level (FP5, FP6 and FP7, H2020, HE, Clean-Sky-1, Clean-Sky-2 and Clean Aviation).
