Robert Jaron

Born in Berlin, Germany, in 1985, Robert Jaron is an expert in aerospace engineering with a specialization in aeroacoustics. He studied Aerospace Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and received his Dr.-Ing. degree in 2018, focusing on the multidisciplinary design optimization of aero-engine fans.

Since 2011, Robert Jaron has been affiliated with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and since May 2025, he is the head of the Engine Acoustics department at the Institute of Propulsion Technology. From 2021 to 2024, he led the EU-funded SENECA project, focused on the environmental impact of supersonic aircraft. Additionally, Robert has participated in several EU-funded projects, including CleanSky2 and TurboNoiseBB, as well as the national LUFO project LIST, and numerous industrial and DLR internal projects.

Since 2020, Robert has been a nominated member of ICAO/CAEP Working Group 1 (“Noise”), where he actively contributes to discussions and decisions related to the regulation and certification of noise from civil aircraft engines.

In addition to numerous publications, Robert holds a patent for an optimized OGV lean shape, designed to reduce tonal interaction noise while enhancing stall margin. In 2024, he was awarded the DLR Science Prize for his outstanding contributions to the field of supersonic aircraft LTO noise.
