Volker Krajenski studied mechanical engineering at TU Braunschweig and joined the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in 1992. He was working in the field of composite structures and materials before he moved to the University of Magdeburg in 1998, joining the new established chair of adaptronics. In 2003 he returned to DLR and was responsible for project acquisition and project management at the Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems. In 2009 he changed to the Program Directorate Aeronautics and became EU-Coordinator, being responsible for the coordination of the DLR involvement in European research programmes in aviation. In this role he represents DLR in different groups at EREA, ACARE and Clean Sky. From 2016 to 2017 he was chair of the EREA Aviation Research Group.
