Room A: May 7th 13:00-14:00 IFAR Early Career Exchange: This workshop will showcase the outcomes of the IFAR Early Career Challenge, a unique initiative fostering international cooperation among young researchers tackling key global aeronautics challenges.


Room B1: May 8th 10:00-11:00 – The HAIKU Project 

HAIKU (Human AI Teaming Knowledge and Understanding for aviation safety) is a 36-months R&I Project funded by Horizon Europe which is nearing finalisation.

The HAIKU Consortium will present its achievements and key learnings on topics such as Human-AI Teaming, Explainability, Safety Culture, and more, along with showcasing two real-world use cases of applied AI in aviation: Use Case 1 and its FOCUS assistant to support commercial pilots in case of startle and surprise events in the cockpit, and Use Case 5 with the Airport Safety Watch assistant which is generating actionable safety intelligence for improving day-to-day airport operations and safety performance.

Room A: May 8th 11:00-13:00 OVERLEAF Project presentation by Fundazione ICONS: The OVERLEAF Final Event: Advancements in Liquid Hydrogen Storage Technology and Future Scenarios”

Throughout the event, OVERLEAF project partners will deliver detailed presentations covering all major results, with a specific focus on the low-pressure liquid H2 storage system (LPH) design. It will begin with an overview of European ambitions in aviation research, presented by ICONS, followed by ACITURRI’s insights into hydrogen tank concepts. AIMEN will then explore tank manufacturing processes, and TU Delft will present their work on optical hydrogen sensors. The University of Girona will share advances in testing and simulation, before ACITURRI returns to present final results and conclusions. Finally, ICONS will outline the pathways for project exploitation.
